Some Piping for the Weekend. . . .


This is Lord Edward's Own Pipe Band out of Narraghmore in County Kildare, Ireland. There's a taste of "Dawning of the Day" at the beginning of the video and then about a minute's worth of marching past to the tap until you get to a nice little set of 6/8s. I don't recall the name of the first tune. If I ever did know it; familiar melody, though, The second is "Leaving Port Askaig".

They're playing in Perranporth in Cornwall at a Celtic festival. It looks to be a beautiful day in a beautiful town.

[ADDENDUM: Molly reminds me that first of the two 6/8s is Donald Shaw Ramsay's lovely "Mrs Lily Christie". And so it is.]
