Yesterday upon the stair, I met a man who wasn't there. . .
Poor Italy. It seems to have an entire army - 300,000 strong - that wasn't there.
And it won't go away either.
[For those who led a deprived childhood,
herewith the entire verse:
Yesterday upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today.
I wish that he would go away.]
