The 21st Century in One Sentence

From the psalter for this morning's Mattins:

They know not, neither do they understand, but walk on still in darkness: * all the foundations of the earth are out of course.   -Ps 82

Or so it seems to me from the evening propaganda news.   At least what little I can tolerate of it.

From the Mail

Well, not the mail precisely.  The twitter feed in fact.  But it's sort of like email. What it was, was a quotation from GKC, is what it was:

Men are ruled, at this minute by the clock, by liars who refuse them news, and by fools who cannot govern.-- G.K. Chesterton
God bless us.  Pretty perspicacious 21st century opinions from someone who died in 1936.  This may be my new email sig line.

"There is very little in the popular culture of teens and tweens that is gentle and slow, gracious and warm."

From Peggy Noonan:

Here is my concern. There are not fewer children living stressed, chaotic lives in America now, there are more. There will be more still, because among the things America no longer manufactures is stability. And the culture around them will not protect them, as the culture protected me. The culture around them will make their lives harder, more frightening, more dangerous. They are going to come up with nothing to believe in, their nerves are essentially shot. And they’re going to be—they are already—very angry.

The above is from  her new book.  But I found it here.

Swiped, uh, I mean Quoted from CMReport's Twitter Feed

It is clear to  me that the world has collectively decided that hand-baskets are too slow a method of travel.

Indeed.

(There's a website, too.  It's here.  But I don't know how to link to a Twitter feed.  If you're good at rummaging around the web you can probably find it.  Otherwise, you'll just have to trust me.)
